What decorating can teach you!

I decided as part of a bunch of new years resolutions to start redecorating my apartment. I figured I would break it down into manageable chunks to ensure I didn’t get overwhelmed or worse put off. In doing this I have learned three valuable lessons I would like to share with you.

It’s hard work but so rewarding

Decorating is super hard work, probably harder than I remember and more so as I have chosen to do it on my own. Previous times I have garnered help from friends and family or professionals. This time I have been going it alone and as a wonderful result it has been deeply rewarding.

Time Management

So it would appear I didn’t really manage my time per task as I had thought. I had deeply under estimated how long painting one room by myself would take for example.

Patience is the key to success

Not being a professional decorator I have learned this hard lesson – you must have patience. I am more of a sort of I want everything done now kinda gal. This was the hardest lesson of all for me.

So how does it’s hard work but so rewarding, time management and patience learnt from decorating translate into the working world I hear you ask? Well, funnily enough very well. In our work life we must work hard and more often than not if we do it can be deeply rewarding.

Time management well this is a tricky one but what I learned was you need to properly plan and have a couple of plan b’s up your sleeve for when your plan a doesn’t work so well.

And lastly patience, well to be honest who couldn’t do with more patience. It’s the hardest thing to learn but when you do my oh me my it’s so rewarding.
